March 13, 2010 - St. Patrick's Day Parade, Ocean City, MD
***********PLEASE READ THIS UPDATE***********
The 2010 parade has been cancelled due to inclement weather. There is no rain date. Many menbers are still going to OC for a funfilled weekend. Call Brett, Jen, Or Melvin to find out where everyone is hanging out!
The AAES had been marching in this parade for several years, and we ALWAYS have a great time! The weekend starts Friday night with a happy hour at Reflections, the restaurant in the Holiday Inn on 67th St. at 7 PM. The next day we line up at 11 AM on 61st St. (bayside). Melvin brings his fire engine, and member's children are encouraged to ride! The group will march behind the fire engine and throw beads. This parade is a big deal in OC, and there is a huge turnout. You are strongly encouraged to wear your AAES kilt uniform, but members can march in their Class 'A' uniform as well. The parade ends at the 45th St. Plaza, where there is an Irish Festival, complete with LIVE Irish music and dancers, face painting, food, and a beer garden!
The Holiday Inn on 67th St. has been our hotel of choice for the last 5 years. The location is excellent, the rooms are comfortable (each has a small kitchen), and rooms are available from $68 per night (interior), to $96 (ocean view). PLEASE DON'T WAIT TILL THE LAST MINUTE TO BOOK A ROOM!!!! This hotel (as well as many others) always sells out on this weekend. Go to http://www.ocmdhotels.com/holidayinn/ to make reservations on-line.
